IS ALKIRA LODGE SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN?
For guests who take exclusive use of Alkira Lodge or Shufflers Villa (ie they book the accommodation for their private use) children of all ages are welcome. This is on acceptance of risk and acknowledgement that the pool and jacuzzi are exposed and some balconies have steep drop-offs.
The Lodge has a policy of no children under the age of 12 if guests are not taking exclusive use
WHAT ACTIVITIES DOES ALKIRA PROVIDE?
The favourite activity of most our guest is to work on their tan - taking up a position on a sun lounger and moving as little as possible between pool and jacuzzi.
But for those who prefer something more active…:
Take a short walk on our reserve enjoying the local fynbos and keeping an eye out for the famous and elusive Brenton Blue Butterfly and shy Bush Buck antelope.
The most beautiful beaches in Southern Africa are 2 minutes away by car. The pristine white sands are perfect for a long stroll and the crystal water invite you to catch a wave or dip in to cool off.
Get out on the water and maybe even get in the water: book a spot on our private boat and take a leisurely tour the lagoon, river and coves enjoying a delicious snack and glass of something refreshing. Take a dip.
We partner with all the local activity providers and we will happily recommend and book your preferred activities from golf, wine tasting and whale watching, to hiking, biking, birding and boating.

DO YOU OFFER TOUR GUIDES?
Yes, we have tour guides that work with us tailoring tours (cycle, boat, nature walks, bird watching, kayak) to individual requests. It is necessary to book in advance to avoid disappointment. An extra fee applies. Contact us with your request so that we can advise availability and rates.
WHAT IS YOUR BOOKING POLICY?
We have a booking policy of a minimum length of stay of 2 consecutive nights. We do make exceptions for 1 night stay but usually only within 7 days of your requested dates.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
Normal cancellations: more than 30 days before check in are refunded in full. Cancellations within 30 days before check-in we charge 100% of the total booking amount.
Free date changes are accommodated wherever possible.
Bank fees and a 10% administration fee may apply to refunds.
For extraordinary cases we will offer a full refund or date change.
DO I NEED TO MAKE A DEPOSIT TO SECURE THE BOOKING?
Yes, to confirm and validate your booking we require a deposit of 50% of the total amount of your stay.
DOES THE LODGE SERVE DINNER?
Yes. In order to offer give our guests a full experience of the famous Alkira Sunsets and the opportunity to enjoy delicious local wines ‘at home’, we serve a freshy prepared plat du jour evening meal. It is very important to advise upon booking your accommodation whether you will or will not be eating with us on the evening of your arrival so that we can plan the space available in our restaurant.
WHAT ABOUT IF I HAVE SPECIAL DIETARY REQUIREMENTS?
Our chefs plan and prepare a 3 course seasonal plat du jour menu every evening. Please let us know any and all dietary restrictions well in advance so that our chefs can plan a menu that caters for you.
ARE NON RESIDENTS ACCEPTED FOR DINNER?
If we have space, we are very happy to offer non-resident guests an Alkira experience. Reservations do not accept children under 12. We can usually only confirm whether we are able to accommodate non-resident guests once resident guests have confirmed their reservation and we appreciate your understanding in this. Our chef prepares a fresh menu each day and any changes to number of guests need to be confirmed by 10am that day to avoid being disappointed or charged a no show.
We have this policy to ensure a peaceful, relaxed and Covid safe space and so that all our guests can fully enjoy their experience at Alkira.
WHAT IS THE COST OF DINNER?
The standard cost for our 4 course set menu dinner is R660 per person. This includes a complimentary bar snack and sundowner drink. It does not include a service fee or gratuity which guests are welcome to add on settling their bill.
